2008 ESAGCS GOLF SEASON
Golfers, it is getting about time to finish up that off-season training program, dust off your sticks, shine your shoes and read up on your current USGA rule book. By now, all the in-house equipment tuning and yearly planning is finished and Im sure everyone is marking their calendars for the ESAGCS Kick-off meeting to be held at Hunters Oak Golf Club and hosted by Curt Wittman.
Once again this should be an exciting year with some great venues to attend. Some of the new venues on the slate this year include, War Admiral at Riddle Farms and Heritage Shores for the Superintendent/Pro in September. The Annual Champion will be crowned at The Rookery in July, with this being the 3rd leg of the 3 round championship.
The Genesis Player of the Year is now up literally up for grabs. As a two-time consecutive year winner, last years champion, Paul Tideman, will not be eligible for the trophy in the 2008 season. We will congratulate Paul at the Hunters Oak meeting in March.
Our handicap service will once again be available through the ESAGCS. We will be checking the use of this service and discontinue those for non-use. Please input all eligible rounds that are played throughout the year. If anyone has any questions about this service or how to get involved, please contact me.
Congratulations to those of you that attended the 2008 GIS show and played in the Annual Superintendents Tournament, in Orlando, Florida. If there were any scores worth mentioning or not, please e-mail them to me so we can put them on our website. It would also be nice to post on the ESAGCS website any pre or post show golf trip photos if there are any out there.
Please take some time to thank all those Superintendents that are hosting a meeting this year. Their maintenance and clubhouse staff work very hard in advance to prepare for us, so lets show them the proper respect and thanks while at their facilities.
I look forward to serving as your Golf Chairman for another year. My only request is that reservations are made on time and with handicap. Please also let me know if your reservation has changed and you cannot make it. This is helpful even the day of the meeting. If you have requests for pairing, please let me know that as well. I will try and accommodate everyone. If you have any requests or thoughts about the golf program please e-mail me.
I look forward to a great year!
Respect the Game
Todd Cowing ESAGCS Golf Chairman
