January 2008 Dear Turfgrass Professional: You are cordially invited to renew your membership in the Eastern Shore Association of Golf Course Superintendents. Our association and the golf industry is changing every day and we are striving to find new ways to serve our members, the industry and our local communities. This association is founded on supporting and advancing the careers of dedicated individuals like you. We would be remiss if we didn’t take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and participation in making last year such a great success! We continue to raise the standards for our fundraising efforts with our Silent Auction which allowed us to donate $22,000 last year to our two beneficiaries: Believe in Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation and the Paint Branch Turf Research Facility in College Park, MD. Other efforts toward improving the fundraising efforts, as well as additional community service projects and public service announcements are being planned for 2008. As for this upcoming season, we will continue to offer several educational opportunities at our monthly meetings that can cover topics such as personal finance, turfgrass management, health, safety in the workplace, networking and many others. Our monthly meetings will again offer lunch and golf immediately following the meeting/presentation. These meetings provide a great opportunity to network, socialize, educate, and enjoy a day with peers and we encourage you to attend as many as possible. In addition, we will again be hosting a two-day educational conference in Ocean City. In 2008, we will also continue to host the Superintendent Championship Series, the Superintendent/Pro, and Invitational Tournaments. The association will maintain the Player of the Year award as well as hosting the Annual Crab Feast, Family Day activity and Vendor Appreciation events. We are encouraged that you will renew your membership and participate in our monthly meetings and other scheduled events throughout the year. We look forward to continuing the traditions of our association as well as improving the value of your membership. Again, thank you for your continued support and participation.
